Day Three: 11:14pm July 8th 2005 - I woke up around noon today from sunlight coming through a loose board on the door that we didn't quite put back properly from yesterday. I guess when your body is dumping 10 gallons a second of adrenaline into your blood stream, you forgot the small things. Last night was the best sleep I got since before the storm. Chris was able to score some pain pills from the pharmacy. Luckily Mrs. Blaire, Sam's wife, looked after Kate's baby because those pills knock us all on our asses.
With enough food for a few weeks and with Jane on antibiotics to calm down her fever, we all just kind of relaxed today...I didn't think that relaxing would be possible, but our bodies will force us to do what they want I guess. I learned everyone's names today. I didn't care to know these people when this happened. But with how this is going I think we will have to be a group...all intensive purposes, for a bit longer. I figure if I write their names here it'll help me remember. I've always been bad with names.
Mr. Joe and Mrs. Blaire who own the athletic store
Jane and Chris ... They're nurses
Kate and her baby ... I don't know the babies name yet
I found a way to get to the roof, I brought a pair of binoculars and a pack of M&Ms too. This is where I spent the rest of my day, and where i'm writing this right now. We haven't heard anything on the radio in a couple days. They went from hourly messages, to once a day, to now what seems like once a week. Not a good sign...for us at least. I'm sure those rich fucks in this town are sitting pretty in their gated neighborhood behind their $35k storm shutters to block the views of how the rest of us live. Fuck those people. I can see straight over the gates to that pretty little paradise. My boss, if I still even have a job at this point lives in that neighborhood. He was always a decent guy. All bosses are still bosses, but he's alright. I'm going to keep my eyes open, that could be a good place to hold up if this place goes south.
